Personally I think that bribing first time buyers to enter a falling market is criminal.
FE does not think it will work either.

I can't believe the fuss this has created, particularly when it's going to make little or no difference. We are talking about 12 to 15 hundred pounds for most first-time buyers, even the arrangement fee of many mortgages is higher than that.
The government should be seriously injecting more money into the economy, by raising income tax allowances, not fiddling with a tax no-one is going to pay anyway until houses become affordable again.
